I rarely exhibit but when the Green Rooms Hotel invited me to design and create two new pieces for their wonderful establishment in Wood Green, London, I jumped at the chance.
I was asked to come up with something that could be put on display in the Bar on a wonderful cabinet they have there. Obviously the pieces had to sit comfortably within the surroundings and I'm happy to say that the two metal floral items I designed and made do just that.
The Exhibitions and Commissions page has more details about this lovely establishment and how to see these pieces.
I put together this collection of head and body pieces for a solo show at Alternative London Fashion Week at Spitalfields Market in London.
I love the Pre-Raphaelite and Art Nouveau movements and they were a huge inspiration for this. I was the first 'jewellery/accessory' maker to be given my own show as the work needed to stand alone to be truly appreciated.
I loved this experience and worked with some wonderful friends, hair/makeup artists, models and photographers to make this happen.
This was also the beginning of my journey into metal floral displays as can be seen by the wedding bouquets. I still make bouquets to order and hire the body pieces for parties.
Once again inspired by mother nature DontDoDainty produced this piece 'Climbing Rose' for a treasured long-term private client.
As with the majority of our work, this Silver Cuff is a one off unique item that we had great fun making for a particularly special occassion.
Made from Glass, Copper, Brass, Nickel, Aluminium and Silver this one and a half meter high piece is an explosion of colour, tones and textures.
Beautiful and bold statement designs for beautiful and bold discerning women.
In 1989 dancer Michael Clark approached Josie Jones and Jake Walters of Big Hard Excellent Fish to write a piece of music for his forthcoming work with the Phoenix Dance Company. Josie, formerly a member of Pete Wylie’s Mighty Wah! asked Pete to work with them on this and the ‘Imperfect List’ was born: a sober, chilling - and very heartfelt cry and denouncement of Britain’s then-ill’s.
After many requests in subsequent years to ‘update’, it was not until 2011 when approached by One Little Indian that Big Hard Excellent Fish decided that the time was right, the resulting track is ‘And The Question Remains’, written by Josie and Ian.C.
DontDoDainty was commissioned to create a metal wreath (in honour of Josies mother) for the cover of the EP photographed by Jake Walters.
From elegant but bold Bracelets to Unique Hand Pieces and provocative Body Wear, DontDoDainty prides itself on making Women feel even more Beautiful.
As with all of our work these are generally one offs or Limited Edition
